Bell shaped with black-purple skin and meaty fruit. Also known as Abergine.

PLANTING

Eggplants require fertile, well drained soil. It is intolerant to extreme cold weather but work generally well in Hong Kong. Spacious area prefered.

FLAVOUR

Mild, good taste, and meaty.

CULINARY USE

Use widely in worldwide cuisine, normally eaten when cooked. Due to it's texture it is also used as meat substitute. Best to grill, pan-fry or roast.
