Lemongrass is one of the most popular herbs in Asian cuisines. It is also used to make essential oils due to it's fragrance and the said medical benefits.
PLANTING
It grows well in containers. Individual seeds should be 15cm apart though so bigger and deeper containers preferred. Need light to germinate. Best to have at least 6 hours direct sunlight.
FLAVOUR
Lemongrass has a citrus and lemon flavour, with a hint of mint and ginger.
CULINARY USE
Widely use in South East Asia and has been popular in the west from recent years. Lemongrass is usually chopped to get the flavour and aroma. Dried lemongrass is also commonly used. Both fresh and dried Lemongrass pair good with curry, soups, salad, and most kinds of meats. Tea brewing. |
